As someone who spends a lot of time studying and learning about how to heal myself and others, it feels important to share some of the tools and resources that have been helpful to me. While this list is far from exhaustive, it’s a great starting place on some of my favorite topics. May it be of benefit!

Mental Health Resources

  • Trained counselors available for individuals, families and friends. Call 1-866-427-4747, text: HOME to 741741 or visit www.crisistextline.org

  • This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis. Check out their extensive list of resources or sign up for a course at www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org/take-a-course/

  • Provides information, resource referrals and support to people living with a mental health condition, their family members and caregivers. Call 800-950-6264 or send an email to info@nami.org

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline—We can all help prevent suicide. The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.

  • Providers offer sessions for individuals, couples and families between $30 and $60. Visit openpathcollective.org to learn more.

  • Provides 24/7 crisis support services to LGBTQ young people. Text, chat, or call anytime to reach a trained counselor: Text ‘START’ to 678-678 or Call at 1-866-488-7386

  • Peer support help line for people living with emotional and mental health challenges. Call 877- 500-WARM (9276) TTY: 206-461-3610 or visit www.crisisconnections.org/wa-warm-line.

  • Provides counseling and therapy from providers who understand the specific needs of people of color and various cultures. Visit multiculturalcounselors.org to learn more.
